A closer view of the truck bolster (horizontal in the photo), the four swing hangers and the traction motor supports (two vertical-oriented bars).  The traction motor mounts are linked to the upper part of the truck frame with the two beams that the swing hangers pass through.

Many of CN's 4-axle MLW road units used a lightweight version of the Type B truck.  It has a shorter wheelbase than the standard Type B (8' 10" instead of 9' 4") and lacks the central leaf springs.  A standard Type B truck can be seen on CN FPA4 6765 above.

Buick on the rails!  This car bears little resemblance to today's hi-rail pickup trucks, which have small metal wheels that can be lifted off the tracks when the truck is driven on roads.  This car has the tires replaced by metal wheels, permanently relegating it to the tracks.  Note the four air horns.

CP Business car #1.  This car was acquired by the CP in 1881 and was used on the first CP transcontinental train in 1886.  Its origins may go back as far as the 1860's.  However, the car has been extensively rebuilt.
