Kodak High-Definition 400 ISO Print Film
Grain
A closer look reveals that Kodak H-D 400 still has a noticeable grain. However, it's good for a 400-ISO film and is finer than that of standard Kodak MAX 400.

Colour
Contrast - Low
Kodak High-definition 400 has a decent colours but a notable blue-green green cast. Contrast is very low, especially in photos taken on overcast days. This results in good shadow detail, but it gives the photos a flat, non-vibrant appearance.
This photo received slightly increased exposure and no colour correction when scanned.
Sharpness
This is a cropped 2400 DPI scan from the image above.
Sharpness is about on par with a good 200-ISO film. In this sample, the rivets and lifts rings on the locomotive and the trees in the background are fairly well-defined.
Overall
Similar to MAX 400 in many respects, Kodak H-D 400 has a slightly finer grain and better sharpness, but bland colour and contrast. It shares the versatility of MAX 400 in all light conditions.
Long-term Stability
This film strip was re-scanned in November 2009, 5 3/4 years after the photos were taken. The blue-green had increased notably, but could still be mostly corrected digitally.
