I have only one
recording of a CDAC freight off in the distance, but the Nathan K5LA on
the leading engine is very nice to listen to. The locomotive leading
was probably an ex-Amtrak F40PH, a type common to that railroad.

This is a CDAC train heard
from my back porch, whistling for a crossing more than 5 km away.
I sometimes mistake the horn and occasionally even the engine sounds of
distant CDAC trains running near Sherbrooke, Quebec, for those of an SLR,
and marvel at how the sound travelled when no SLR train ever comes.
