Welcome to Trainiax!  Here you'll find drawings, recordings, photos and loads of info that relate to one of the world's most fascinating modes of transportation.

Featured in the site are some 450 computer-drawn locomotive diagrams in 3 sizes that I've developed over the past two years, including a large number of painted North American diesels and several versions of the world-famous French TGV.  I've also taken almost as many photos from various places around North America (and a few from Europe), many of which are from my "home railroad"--the St. Lawrence & Atlantic RR (SLR).  Their locomotives I've also captured on tape, as well as a few from other railroads, and the sounds are uploaded here in over 60 WAV files.

Worth checking out as well is the Train Facts section.  This is a collection of all the train-related info I can think of, including what was regarded as the most revolutionary locomotive since Stephenson's rocket, why EMD's SD40T-2/SD45T-2 "tunnel motors" were invented, the reasons ALCO locomotives have their billowing smoke when accelerating, all the info behind my computer drawings, and much more.

For those new to railfanning, all the photos of operational trains (except the commuter and intercity trains in France) are of typical diesel-electric locomotives, the only kind used for most North American freights.  Their numerous model designations and several builders may seem confusing, not to mention the terms used to describe how they work, so if there's anything you'd like to know more about, e-mail me.  Any questions or comments, or reported problems with the site, are very much appreciated; send them to eby@abacom.com.

Check back every so often-- I update the site several times a week, with drawing, recording and photo additions along with homepage facelifting.  All Aboard!
